Third Barkeater Lake Collection in Pre-Order! For Reals!

June 26th, 2008

“Some men are evil… Some men never answer for their crimes… Some men… Are Dogs.”

Return to Barkeater Lake is now in Pre-Order for a two month trial. One of the big reasons Escape From Barkeater Lake and the CHPMNK book have taken so long to hit your coffee tables is the pre-orders were lower than the minimum cost to print a first run of books. Luckily, with Corey securing steady contract work (The Elderberries and TOBY, Robot Satan) over the last year, we’ve been able to front the rest to have Escape and CHPMNK printed.

So, let’s see what we can do with a third book, shall we? We’ll run a pre-order until the end of August and then make a decision, based on the number of orders, when to go to print. We’ll also make the first 100 signed and numbered by Corey himself! That gives everyone two months to enjoy Escape and the coming Rise of the CHPMNK Militia… Wetting your whistles for the third book in a crazy trilogy of Beer, Bacon, Betrayal and… Ridicularity™!

We understand if you all are hesitant to jump into another pre-order and you have every right to back off and say “Hey, not until I see the thing in stock”. We have made mistakes in the past and dug a hole that took over a year to get out of. Hopefully we learned and can move on to a future of great comics and cool books, shirts and movies! TV!… Whoops… Said too much there.

Thanks to all who continue to support this crazy ride we call Pontificational Ridicularity™. We hope you’ll stick around to what’s next.

Cheers!

A Place for My Stuff

June 23rd, 2008
Courtesy NY Times

When I was a kid, say around 10 or 11, we had this huge console stereo. It was this plastic, faux wood-paneled dinosaur with a radio, a record player and an eight-track – a toast to the chunky cheese that was 70s decor.

I had three things I was aloud to listen to on the console: Bill Cosby: “Why is There Air?”, An REO Speedwagon album and an eight-track of George Carlin’s “A Place for My Stuff”. Three great comedy albums that I wore out via headphones so big and snug, they ensured absolutely no interruption, even from a nuclear attack.

I don’t claim many heroes and I’ve never been one to raise us flawed human beings to God-like status, but I will say “A Place for My Stuff” is a big, if not THE reason I chose the comedic path I have. I don’t think George Carlin was a King, or that his shit didn’t stink. I just think sometimes, a person can do one thing so well that it makes the world stop, look and clap.

“Ever notice how your shit is stuff and other people’s stuff is shit?”

Drink at Work:Portland! Lobstah! Beer! The possibilty of comedy!

June 18th, 2008

Ah, summer in Maine… Lobster, ocean-side grilling and the unmistakable fragrance of the homeless baking in the afternoon sun.

There’s also comedy, you know… Every third Wednesday at the Empire Dine and Dance (575 Congress St, Portland)… And today… Today happens to be the third Wednesday in June!

Here’s the idea: Why not get yourself a couple of lobsters for outdoor grilling around, oh, say… 6pm. They cook quick, so you could have your “lobstah dinnah” by the sea, throw back a few High Lifes and be at the Empire in plenty of time for the show! Sound like a plan? Well let’s implement and destroy!

See you at 9pm! Don’t forget to remove your lobstah bib. You don’t want to look like someone from “away”.

The Drink at Work Show: Portland!
Tonight! 9pm at the Empire Dine and Dance
575 Congress St. Portland, ME
Featuring possible comedy by Brian Giles, Brian Brenniger (Portland Phoenix’s vote for best Portland comedian), and Cloud Morris
Hosted by the amazing and drunken Country Rhodes and The Fuge
$3 at the door

Presented by the Bollard and Fake Rockstar, LLC.

Things are… um, going

June 17th, 2008

Holy moly, what a week.

You’ll all be happy to know that TOBY, Robot Satan is all up to date and flying high, once again. Our nagging technical issues caused a lag in updates, but we were able to get things up late last night. We’re still waiting on the proof of Escape From Barkeater Lake from the printer… As soon as its in, we’ll approve it ASAP and hopefully stay on schedule for shipping the first wave the first week of July.

Work has once again resumed on the CHPMNK book and of there’s a God, we can have it to the printer by the end of July, then set our sites on the third collection of BL strips: Return to Barkeater Lake. Corey wants a “Spaghetti Western”-themed cover, but we’ll see.

Of course, this all hinges on Fake Rockstar, LLC procuring new computer equipment in the next month. We’re on the right track and hopefully we can raise enough coin to work something out.

Happy, digital thoughts!

Cheers, beers and longing for naps,

Your Fake Rockstar Weirdos

June 11th, 2008

In celebration of Escape from Barkeater Lake finally going to print, we decided to make the cover into this here nifty movie poster! Then we decided to put it up for sale to you, the loyal and patient fans! Just like the first poster, there are only 50, signed and numbered. When they’re gone, they’re gone, folks.

ALSO: The first poster of Delores and the CHPMNKS is no longer at Etsy.com. It’s under the “shirts and accessories category in the new Fake Rockstar shop.

Really? This is where we’re going, America?

June 9th, 2008

Seen on E! Entertainment site:

“A-list Secrets: How Stars Move Their Stuff”

I guess hittin’ the U-Haul store fer a big ol’ straight drive-equipped conflagration of a movin’ van is too “pedestrian”.

Heh.

Yeah, I’m sorta sad I wasted time to post this, now. Regret never does me good.
